# Livestock Breeding

There are three species planned.

1. Chicken
2. Pig
3. Cow

Heritage breeds were chosen as per this and just me googling stuff. <https://livestockconservancy.org/images/uploads/docs/CPL_2021_NO_STUDY_Poultry.pdf>

At launch there will only be chickens available to breed.

Ages are expressed in WEEKS. *Yeah, actual weeks brajole.*

| Heritage Chicken Breeds | Min Eggs/Year | Max Eggs/Year | Min Egg Laying Age | Max Egg Laying Age | Min Slaughter Ready Age | Max Slaughter Ready Age | Range Type | Egg Size | Egg Color |
| ----------------------- | ------------- | ------------- | ------------------ | ------------------ | ----------------------- | ----------------------- | ---------- | -------- | ----------- |
| White Leghorn | 270 | 290 | 16 | 17 | N/A | N/A | All | Jumbo | White |

| New Hampshire Red | 175 | 225 | 18 | 21 | 8 | 10 | Free Range | Medium | Brownish |

At launch, the only way to begin breeding will be to start a heritage farm. This burns 1 ANIMAL token, and an amount of acres specified by the species.

Heritage breeds cannot be bred with any other breed.

Each heritage breed requires its own farm.

Eventually, new breeds will be added. These standard breeds' farms will not require ANIMAL, but will have lower quality meats and eggs.

When a Chicken Coop is minted, it has a random **Quality**. Heritage Farms always are **Amazing**.

Every Chicken Coop comes with a random Matriarch Hen and Patriarch Rooster, rolled within the bounds of the farm quality.

There are a few stats that are not specific to the Breed.

Fertility can roll on roosters in a range determined by the coop quality. The Fertility is the chance, each time a Rooster breeds, that it is successful.

A hen's Broodiness determines the chance that an egg will hatch.

The egg delay, determines how many eggs per year the hen will lay, by fixing the time between each egg laying event.

1. **Amazing (1%)**
   1. **Rooster**
      1. Fertility: 0.4 - 0.5
   2. **Hen**
      1. Egg Delay: Minimum
      2. Broodiness: 0.4 - 0.5
2. **Good (9%)**
   1. **Rooster**
      1. Fertility: 0.3 - 0.4
   2. **Hen**
      1. Egg Delay: (MAX-MIN)\*25% + (MAX+MIN)/2
      2. Broodiness: 0.3 - 0.4
3. **Average (60%)**
   1. **Rooster**
      1. Fertility: 0.2 - 0.4
   2. **Hen**
      1. Egg Delay: (MAX + MIN)/2
      2. Broodiness: 0.2 - 0.4
4. **Poor (30%)**
   1. **Rooster**
      1. Fertility: 0.1 - 0.2
   2. **Hen**
      1. Egg Delay: Maximum
      2. Broodiness: 0.1 - 0.2

### Pig Notes (NOT finalized mechanics like literally just my notes)

Pig Pastures

Pigs must be fed specific feed (gFEED) in order to grow a belly. They yield all cuts except pork belly no matter what.

Heritage Breeds from here: <http://www.casellasalumi.com/heritagebreeds>

All pigs have a base 1/1000000 chance of finding a TRUFFLE each hour

The Gloucestershire Old Spot has a 1/1000 chance of finding a TRUFFLE each hour

Female pigs reach sexual maturity at 3–12 months of age.

Estrus every 18–24 days if they are not successfully bred. Estrus lasts two to three days

Gestation period 112–120 days.

8 - 12 piglets per litter
